Well, let me tell you about my experience with meeking a horse. It all started when I got this wild – looking horse. It was prancing around in the corral, all full of energy and kinda scary, you know?
I first tried to approach it. I walked slowly towards the horse, my hands out in a non – threatening way. But as soon as I got close, it backed off, snorting and kicking up dust. I thought, “Oh boy, this is gonna be tough.”
Then I decided to start with some basic trust – building. I brought some apples and carrots. I sat outside the corral and just tossed the treats near the horse. At first, it was all suspicious, looking at the food like it was gonna bite back. But after a few days, it started munching on the treats when I was around. That was a small win.
Next, I tried to touch it. I reached out my hand real slow, and when it let me touch its nose, I was stoked. But then, it suddenly jerked its head away. I didn’t give up, though. I kept doing it over and over again, and eventually, it got used to my touch.
Once I had that trust, I decided to get on its back. That was a whole new ballgame. The horse started bucking as soon as I sat down. I held on for dear life, feeling like I was on a rodeo ride. But I kept my balance and didn’t fall off. After a few minutes of wild riding, the horse calmed down a bit.
I spent the next few weeks riding it regularly. Every time it tried to act up, I’d use my legs and reins to control it. It was like a constant battle of wills. But gradually, the horse started to understand what I wanted it to do.
Now, it’s a completely different horse. It follows my commands, and we have a great time riding together. Meeking that horse was super difficult at first, but with patience and a lot of treats, I made it easier. It’s all about building that trust and showing who’s the boss, you know?
