At the beginning of 2018, I was a Pisces eager to improve my career. I started by looking for expert advice everywhere. I read tons of career – related articles written by so – called experts on the internet. Some said Pisces should focus on their creativity, while others emphasized networking.
I decided to take action based on these suggestions. First, I tried to unleash my creativity. I signed up for a painting class on weekends. It was tough at first, as I wasn’t really good at holding a paintbrush. But I kept at it. I spent hours mixing colors and trying to create something unique. I thought maybe this new – found creativity could be applied to my work.
Then, I focused on networking. I attended all kinds of industry events. It was like a battlefield full of strangers. I forced myself to go up to people, introduce myself, and start conversations. It was super awkward at the beginning. I remember one time I walked up to a guy and said something really stupid, like “Nice weather, huh?” when we were talking about business. But as time passed, I got better at it.
I also set some clear career goals. I wrote them down on a piece of paper and stuck it on my desk. One goal was to get a promotion by the end of the year, and another was to learn a new skill relevant to my job. To achieve the new – skill goal, I took an online course. It was a pain in the neck, with all those boring video lectures and difficult assignments. But I pushed through it.

As the year went on, I noticed some changes. My creative ideas started to get recognized at work. I was able to come up with some fresh solutions to old problems. Through networking, I made some valuable connections. One of them even helped me get a chance to work on a high – profile project.
By the end of 2018, I did achieve my goal of getting a promotion. It wasn’t easy. There were a lot of ups and downs during the whole process. But following the expert advice, taking action, and persevering really paid off. It just goes to show that if you’re willing to put in the effort and follow some good advice, you can improve your career, even if you’re a Pisces like me!
