At the beginning of 2021, I was really worried about my career as a Pisces. I felt like I was stuck in a rut and didn’t know how to move forward. So, I decided to give these three tips a try to boost my career.
Tip 1: Network like crazy
I started by reaching out to old colleagues and classmates on LinkedIn. I sent them personalized messages, asking how they were doing and if they knew of any job opportunities in my field. I also attended a few industry events. At these events, I forced myself to talk to as many people as possible. I remember one event where I was so nervous, but I walked up to a group of people and just started chatting. It was awkward at first, but then we got into a really interesting conversation about the latest trends in our industry. I exchanged business cards with a few people, and one of them even introduced me to a hiring manager at their company.
Tip 2: Upgrade my skills
I knew I needed to learn some new skills to make myself more marketable. So, I signed up for an online course in project management. It was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed it. I spent hours watching video lectures, doing assignments, and participating in online discussions. I also joined a study group with some other students, which helped me stay motivated. By the end of the course, I had a new certification and a better understanding of how to manage projects effectively. This gave me the confidence to apply for more senior positions.
Tip 3: Set clear goals
I sat down and wrote out my career goals for 2021. I made them specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time – bound (SMART). For example, I set a goal to get a promotion by the end of the year. To achieve this, I broke it down into smaller steps. I decided to take on more challenging projects at work, ask for feedback from my boss regularly, and build a good relationship with the decision – makers in the company. I kept these goals in a place where I could see them every day, like on my desk or as the wallpaper on my phone. This helped me stay focused and motivated.
By the end of 2021, I was amazed at the results. I got an interview at the company where the hiring manager was introduced to me through networking. I aced the interview because of my new project management skills. And guess what? I got the job, and it was a significant promotion from my previous position. These three tips really worked for me, and I believe they can work for other Pisces or anyone looking to boost their career.
